CM defends YSR portrait in his house

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has strongly defended having a huge portrait of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy adorning the wall of his Begumpet residence, which has become a subject of criticism by certain Congress leaders.
For the last few days, the Chief Minister was campaigning among the people that the welfare schemes introduced during the YSR regime were only the Congress schemes and that YSR had only implemented them. His cabinet colleagues have also suggested that the Congress party would not get back the confidence of the people unless it gets rid of the YSR image.
It is in this context that senior leaders like V Hanumantha Rao suggested that Kiran should implement his new strategy right from his own residence. He pointed out that there was a huge portrait of YSR in the CM’s residence. “How can anybody forget YSR after seeing this image?” he asked.
A visibly embarrassed Kiran said on Wednesday that the YSR portrait should not be politicized.
“Let us not drag YSR into controversies. Let us concentrate on the Congress party and populairising its schemes,” he said.
