Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and party’s in-charge in Kollapur assembly constituency in Mahbubnagar district C R Jagadeeshwar Rao gave a rude shock to party president N Chandrababu Naidu by announcing his resignation from his post and the primary membership of the party.
Jagadeeshwar Rao sent his resignation to Naidu through fax on Sunday. He announced that he would soon join the YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. Needless to say, hundreds of his followers, too, would join the Jagan party along with him. It is a big boost to the YSR Congress party in Mahbubnagar district, where it is yet to develop its hold.
Interestingly, Jagadeeshwar Rao contested the by-elections in Kollapur assembly constituency in March on the TDP ticket and lost his deposit. Though former Kollapur MLA Madhusudhan Rao has returned to the TDP fold, Jagadeeshwar Rao has a very good name in the constituency and his defection to the YSR Congress is definitely a setback to the TDP. It clearly reflects the pathetic state of the party in the Telangana region.
