Realising the threat from Jagan in Seemandhra after the victory of YSRC in recent by-polls, Congress party is scouting new ways to emerge as a force in the state before 2014 polls.
Right now, the first and best option with High Command is announcing the Telangana statehood, in return if TRS is ready to merge with the Congress. Sources say, TRS came up with this merger proposal after its neck-to-neck battle with YSRC candidate in Parakala by-poll.
Minor Irrigation Minister TG Venkatesh confirms the reports. "The proposal of merger came from TRS end. As TRS is open for merger, the formation of Telangana state is inevitable," revealed TG.
If this deal finalizes, then YSR Congress will be completely wiped out in the Telangana region and sinking Congress will get a new lease of life.
